We're partnered with Cool Earth, who we donate 1% of all on-line bookings to.
Cool Earth themselves are now partnering with 65 villages to keep more than 350,000
acres of at-risk rainforest standing. This is forming a forest shield to
protect over 3 million neighbouring acres.
In the New Year they'll be launching two new projects in northern Peru and the
Congo Basin. None of this would be possible without your support.
We can't wait to work with Cool Earth again in 2014 and help grow the forest shield.
Have a look at Cool Earth and help freeze global warming!

Primetime For Beacon Training
Recognizing potential avalanche hazards and selecting safe terrain
are the best ways to avoid avalanches. That said, it’s not easy to
pinpoint every avy hazard and the danger can change unexpectedly as you
move though variable terrain and snow conditions.
Wearing an avalanche beacon and knowing how to use it is the most basic safeguard you have against this unknown danger potential. Regardless of how safe you think the snowpack might be, you should always wear your beacon in the backcountry. It’s a no-brainer - the consequences of not having a beacon on should you need it are just too grave.

Resort Guide: Morzine, France
Morzine and Avoriaz are two of the best ski towns in France and form part of the huge Portes du Soleil area. Purpose-built Avoriaz is perched seemingly precariously on a plateau at 1800m. It is very convenient, offering ski-in ski-out accommodation, but lacks the friendly atmosphere of Morzine which breaks the traditional French stereotype not being as ugly as sin, and instead an attractive village full of wooden chalets with not a high-rise in sight!

Prodains Parking Rates Announced
It’s always been free to park at Les Prodains, but only if you could
find a space! Perhaps in an effort to reduce the amount of vehicles in
the recently enlarged car park just next to the new high capacity
Prodains Express lift, there’ll now be a charge to leave your car. Good
job there’s a local bus service!arge to leave your car. Good

Golden Oldie Snowboarders
Golden Oldie Snowboarders
The numbers of people taking up snowboarding over the age of 50 is on the rise our friends at Yodel in Morzine tell us!
According to Chill Factore in Manchester, UK, it's the parents that are queuing up to get involved and they've seen a 350% increase in over-50s getting involved on a board in the first six months of this year. The trend has had an excellent effect on retail with the older generation having the extra funds necessary to splash out on new gear each season. We think it's great seeing more and more people get involved in winter sports regardless of their age! Wow! Well, if you want to try, book your snowboard online at doorstepskis, com

Avoriaz to host FWT event in March
Nice work- our friends over at Morzine Source Magazine have just discovered that the Freeride World Tour is set to land in
Avoriaz on 15th and 16th March 2014 for a 2* event, which surely means
the great and good of freeride skiing and snowboarding will be in
attendance. For those not in the know, the FWT is a global, annual tour
where the most talented riders compete for individual event wins with
the aim of becoming World Champion in their particular discipline. FWT
events usually take place in the steepest, most extreme back country
terrain so it’ll be interesting to see where the event takes place in
Avoriaz.
